January 18

OK so the test which shouldn't be that difficult is on Monday. So for Thursday we will continue too examine muscles of the body.

Muscular contraction, and the three basic kinds of contraction.

How muscle fibre responds to physical training

The location of key muscles and muscle groups throughout the body

Ways in which the body’s major muscle groups can be exercised, and the role of resistance training as a way of exercising muscles.

You should read Textbook pp. 44 - 51

The focus is on the neck and vertebral column, muscles of respiration and the abdomen, and muscles of the shoulder.

I will assign Exercise 3.11 (Muscles of the Arm) on pp. 56 - 57 to develop an understanding of the location, structure, and function of these muscles.

Assign Exercise 3.1 (Section Quiz) on p. 40 to allow you to review material covered in this section.

In history:

We will study the Gods and Godesseses. Study the heroes and monsters in Greek Mythology. Use this knowledge to create a jeopardy game using the Greek and Roman names of each of the Olympians as well as their area of power. We will also learn some of the other popular god’s information. The jeopardy cards have names and areas of power mixed around. The clues have names, areas of power, actions, symbols, etc. You then hand in their cards with pieces of paper when the clues are given.

We will then look at mythology in advertisements. You need to go through magazines, phone books, etc. and pick out ads that relate to mythology. For example, Nike for the goddess Nike. After they find different types of advertisements, then they are to find a company whose logo comes from mythology and research that company.

You need to find out all they can about the company, why the company chose their name. After they have found many advertisements and a company, then they do a presentation where they share their findings as well as their knowledge of mythology.
