The purpose of this final project is to apply many of the topics studied through the course, to another specific global issue. Since no issue is single faceted, any choice will inevitably pertain to some combination of Economic Development, Geopolitics, Regional Disparities in Meeting Basic Human Needs, and Protecting The Planet’s Life-support Systems. The task for the student is to apply at least three of these facets to the topic he or she chooses.
Multimedia project.
Oral presentation (supported with written documentation).
Topic selection:
OPEC
Afghanistan
Rebuilding Iraq
Foreign Aid
Refugees in West Africa
International Drug Trade
Significant person and their ideas/contribution to world
How should AIDS be dealt with in Africa, Middle East and North America? Why are the healing drugs to help AIDS patients so expensive?
Is wealth, food, education,resources, and technology evenly distributed in the world? How does this affect relations?
Outline:
A brief summary of the topic, divided into headings, and explaining the link to three main units of the course.
Bibliography:
5-10 sources. Variety of types of source, and origins of source are expected
Finished Project.

3. Describe the difficulties faced by governments who are trying to fight terrorism?
4. Using examples, describe some of the circumstances that might motivate terrorists.
5. What controls, if any, do you think should be placed on weapons manufacturing and distribution? Explain your reasoning.
5. Terrorism experts suggest that changing communications technology has fundamentally altered the nature of terrorism since the 1960’s. What type of changes has happened? How has terrorism changed as a result? Why are these changes undesirable
6. Is propaganda necessarily bad? Name some cases where it can be good. (5 marks)
7. How does propaganda differ from a simple news report or an editorial column? In what
ways?(5 marks)

8. Using information from the class and the textbook write an essay discussing this statement: “Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable.”-US President John F. Kennedy. 5 marks
9. “When war is declared, Truth is the first casualty.”
- Arthur Ponsonby, British diplomat/writer
Write an essay agreeing or disagreeing with this quote and make sure to use details and examples and include the role does the media play in terrorism? (5 marks)
